Albania: A Hidden Gem for Rock Climbers

Albania is a beautiful country with a lot to offer visitors, including stunning scenery, friendly people, and delicious food. But for rock climbers, Albania is also a hidden gem. The country has a variety of climbing terrain, from rugged mountains to limestone cliffs, and the climbing is world-class.

I had the opportunity to visit Albania in 2021 as part of the Vjosa river project. While I was there, I met with local climbing group Climb Tirana and was overwhelmed by the beauty of the countryside and the cliffs. I also learned that Albania has had very little climbing development and few climbers from outside the country have visited.

I barely scratched the surface of Albania's climbing during my visit, but I was able to climb in Brar and in the capital Tirana. Even though I only climbed a few routes, I was impressed by the quality of the climbing and the beauty of the scenery. I'm sure that Albania is a world-class climbing destination, and I can't wait to return and explore more of what the country has to offer.

If you're looking for a unique and challenging climbing destination, Albania is the perfect place for you. With its stunning scenery, friendly people, and delicious food, Albania is a great place to visit even if you're not a climber. But if you are a climber, Albania is a must-visit destination. The country has something to offer climbers of all levels of experience, and the climbing is truly world-class.
